Buying Loose Rubies Cheaply

Buying Loose Rubies CheaplyBuying loose rubies cheaply is quite possible when you spend a bit of time looking around and finding out where to look.

The first place to look, of course, is the internet. One can browse many jewelers, auction sites and explore other possibilities.

Some important points however, should be kept in mind.

Ensure that you establish the credentials of the seller, whether by dealer or by auction. Do they have contact details? Are they easily contactable? If a seller on an auction site such as eBay, what is their feedback (or other auction site equivalent)? How long have they been selling by auction. Is there any history that tells how long they have been in business? In other words, find out who you are dealing with.

The next point to look for is, are the rubies being offered for sale genuine,? How can you tell? Is there a guarantee offered with the rubies? Is there a certificate offered with the rubies? Is there any history of their origination? Most rubies, particularly the blood red ones, come from Malaysia, and some are not allowed to be imported into the USA, so if you reside in the US it might be better to buy rubies already existing in the USA.

You might be able to negotiate a better price than the rubies are offered for sale. There is certainly no harm in asking for a better price and you might be surprised. Especially if the seller is keen to sell. But beware of one time sales, Today only sort of thing. That can mean a scam is in the offing.

If you can afford it perhaps buying in a larger quantity and asking for a discount may be the order of the day. Again there is no harm in asking. Pointing out that the same rubies are available at a better price elsewhere can often help to encourage a seller to drop their price.

The above and many other methods of locating and buying loose rubies are well worth exploring. In fact, a bit of due diligence and research can go a long way when buying loose rubies cheaply.
